Friday 23 October Concert 8pm

Siar is an innovative music group from Newport and Achill Island, in West Mayo. They have recently exploded on the traditional music scene with their unique mix of newly composed material and combined with traditional pieces arranged in a contemporary style. They utilise a blend of traditional and non-traditional instruments, from bagpipes and saxophone to clarinet and harp. No instrument is off limits when it comes to creating fascinating combinations of sound. Following their award winning performance at Siansa Gael Linn 2019 in the National Concert Hall, the lads went on to appear at the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2019 Gig Rig and Celtic Connections 2020 in Glasgow.

The absolute passion for music shines through this young ensemble. There is a naturalness to them which comes from the hours of playing, singing and creating together and with others. These lads are always ready for a session … and perhaps a bit of mischief!
