Piper Ross Ainslie is from Bridge of Earn in Perthshire. Taught by the late great Gordon Duncan, Ross was a member of the Vale of Atholl Pipe Band. Steeped in Scottish piping tradition, Ross has made this art form relevant for a whole new generation of pipers. His funky blend of tradition and rock has resulted in his bands becoming some of the most sought after acts on the folk scene today. Ross has won ‘Best Instrumentalist’ at the Scots Trad Music Awards in 2010 and 2012. He released his début solo album ‘Wide Open’ in 2013 and his ground breaking ‘Sanctuary’ album in 2018. He was been nominated for ‘musician of the year’ at the Radio 2 folk awards 2013, 2016 & 2018. Ross plays regularly with Jarlath Henderson, Ali Hutton, Treacherous Orchestra and Salsa Celtica. Ross has a remarkable following with young musicians who are enthralled by his exhilarating arrangements.
