Eduard Jiménez

Compasses are an exciting young band from Venezuela, made up of Eduard Jiménez (Harp), Alis Cruces (Cuatro), Nelson Echandía (Electric Bass) and Andrés Ortiz (Maracas). They met at international Joropo festivals of Venezuela and Colombia. Their music originates from the Joropo Llanero ensemble music but also embraces international contemporary, jazz and creole music, using traditional Venezuelan instruments. They are highly regarded individually on their respective instruments, with many solo achievements. As a group they have won many awards at the Venezuelan and Colombian Joropo Festivals. Compasses have toured widely representing the Venezuelan Embassy on cultural exchanges in China, Australia, Syria, Hong Kong, Lebanon, and Colombia. This is their European première performance and we are delighted to welcome them to AIHF showcasing not only the best of Venezuelan Harping but also the finest of Venezuelan music.

Is banna óg iontach iad Compasses as Veiniséala. Is iad baill an bhanna Eduard Jiménez (Cruit), Alis Cruces (Cuatro), Nelson Echandía (Dord Leictreach) agus Andrés Ortiz (Maracas). Casadh ar a chéile iad ag féilte Joropo i Veniséala agus sa Cholóim. As ceol ensemble Joropo Llanero a thagann a gceol, ach cuimsíonn sé ceol idirnáisiúnta comhaimseartha, snagcheol agus ceol Criólach, ag baint leasa as uirlisí Veiniséala. Tá ardmheas orthu go léir ar a gcuid uirlisí faoi seach, agus tá go leor bainte amach acu go léir mar cheoltóirí aonair. Mar ghrúpa, tá go leor gradam buaite acu ag féilte Joropo i Veiniséala agus sa Cholóim. Tá turais déanta acu thar ceann Ambasáid Veiniséala ar chláir mhalairte chuig an tSín, an Astráil, an tSiria, Hong Cong, an Liobáin agus an Cholóim. Is í seo an chéad uair dóibh seinm san Eoraip agus tá ríméad orainn fáilte a chur rompu chuig Féile Chruite Acla, agus iad ag léiriú, ní hamháin an ceol cruite is fearr as Veiniséala, ach scoth an cheoil ó Veiniseála.
