Their sensitive and innovative arrangements of traditional and modern folk songs and tunes have helped them create a sound which is very identifiable as Connla. They have already been crowned Best New Group, Best Concert of The Year and Best Vocal/Instrumental Album of The Year at the Live Ireland Awards.

Tháinig an cúigear ceoltóirí spreagúla seo le chéile nuair a bhí siad i mbun staidéir in Ollscoil Uladh. Rinneadh cur síos orthu in Chicago Irish American News mar an Grúpa Nua as Tuaisceart Éireann is mó a bhfuil tóir orthu. Tá siad tar éis tionchar a imirt go tapa ar dhomhan an cheoil tíre agus traidisiúnta agus tá lucht leanúna mór faighte acu sa Ríocht Aontaithe, in Éirinn, san Eoraip agus i Stáit Aontaithe Mheiriceá. Leis na cóirithe mothálacha agus nuálacha atá déanta acu ar amhráin agus ar phoirt thraidisiúnta agus comhaimseartha, tá fuaim faoi leith acu a aithnítear anois mar fhuaim Chonnla.
